Happy Friday, everyone!(:

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the lack of posts this week! I'm popping on here to explain that we have no batteries in the house (for my camera) and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get my hands on some more. If I'm nice to her, I may be able to get my sister to let me use her camera...(: So we'll see. Also, next week is going to be really busy for me, as it's Holy Week, and then Easter, which is always fun, but busy!

Anyway, Ashley of Bramblewood Fashion posted a tag on her blog today. ^^ Here are my answers to her questions:

1. What's/was your favorite subject in School?
This is a hard question for me, since I either love or hate a subject, and the only subject I ever really hated was math. But if I had to choose, I would probably say history, since it's always interested me, and it ties into a lot of the other things I enjoy studying, such as American Government - you need to have a good knowledge of American history to understand its government!(:

2. What music genre is your favorite?
Um...hmmm....I'm not sure. I listen to a little bit of everything. I tend to like listening to symphonic metal, which mixes the metal sound with a little more classical, and often has amazing vocals. Then I also like classical...(:

3. You can go anywhere in the United States, where do you go?
Given my interest in American history...I bet you all can guess what my destination would be. No? Washington D.C.! I've never been, but I'd love to go someday...just think of all the history!

4. Favorite ice-cream flavor?
Coffee. I love the bitter/sweet flavor!

5. Dogs or cats?
Dogs. I've always loved big dogs.

6. What's your favorite artist {painter}?
I love art, and there's a bunch of different artists I like. Two of my favorites are Alphonse Mucha, and Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones.

7. Favorite Bible verse?
Hmm...There's a lot of them, but one of my favorites is, "Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." It's a nice reminder to keep God in everything I say and do.

8. Favorite Starbucks drink?
Cocoa!(:

I'll be back ASAP with more posts!(:

Have a lovely weekend!

NDFW - Day Six - 70s Nancy

Hi everyone,

Well, it was hard, but we managed to get the pictures taken last night! only one day late....hehe. I had an outfit idea in mnd, but then i changed it at the last minute when I saw my dark purple poncho and this dress. Paired together it reminded me of something Nancy would have worn in the 70s show "The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew." I had just watched an episode with my sisters that night, and so I decided to channel Pamela Sue Martin, the girl who originally played Nancy on the show. I think this outfit could be something out of the late sixties or early seventies....(:

i really love how comfy this outfit is...definitely something I'll be wearing again!
I want to thank the two girls who put this fashion week together, Ashley (of Bramblewood Fashion) and Natasha (of A Modest Fashion Blog: What I Wear, What I Do, and Why I Did it.) - this was so much fun to do!(: Now I'm kinda sad it's over, haha. I loved putting together Nancy-inspired outfits, and it was so much fun to see what the others came up with.

Have a lovely day!

NDFW - Day 6 - Vintage Nancy

Hello!

Here's my outfit from Wednesday! I thought I'd like to wear slacks, but dress it up a bit since it was a church night. So I went for a more vintage look by tucking in my shirt and adding a belt and blazer. Turned out pretty cute, I think! And it was really comfortable, too...these are some of my favorite slacks.

It was a gorgeous day out, but I didn't fix my hair until it was already dark....so we didn't get to take any pictures outside! I kinda like how these turned out, though!

I dont know if I'll be able to get my last outfit in....my photographer was gone, so we couldn't take the pictures yesterday! But I'll try...(:

Anyway, all outfit photos from this week are thanks to my lovely sister. I think she did a great job!(:

NDFW - Day Five - Modern Nancy

Hi everyone,

I meant to have this post up on Tuesday, but then school devoured my day...but now I've gotten a chance! So I'm curled up with my iPad in front of the TV, watching Murder, She Wrote - Jessica Fletcher is another one of my favorite mystery solving heroines.(:

Anyway, for my first day of classes, I wanted something that was classy, but a little more casual. So I took my ruffly shirt and paired it with my jeans, blazer, and my new lace-up shoes. I think it turned out pretty cute!(: but it's definitely more of a Modern Nancy look, I think.

It was a nice day, but really cold! I had to layer up in order to stay warm.

Anyway, have a lovely day!

NDFW - Day 4 - Vintage Nancy

Hey everyone,

Here's another vintage Nancy outfit. I got my inspiration from the 1930s, which is when Nancy was first created. For me, its hallmark is the high-waisted skirt. I love how versatile this skirt is - I've worn it with so many different shirts, and it's looked lovely with each of them.

It was raining again today, and I really didn't want to take the pictures in my room with such a busy, colorful background, so I chose the living room as my setting, grabbed a pile of my favorite Nancy Drew mysteries, and my sister (my incredible photographer), and after arranging the furniture, we came up with some pretty cool shots.

Every good detective should take notes...

And read lots of mysteries, when they're not solving them, of course!

I bet Nancy had a clock like the one in the background in her own house.(: I think it's from the forties, as is the china cabinet.

Tomorrow is the start of my only on-campus class (the others are online), American government. I really like the teacher...he's always so excited about what he's teaching, haha. So I'm excited!(: I can't wait to show you the outfit I picked out!

Have a lovely day!(:

NDFW - Day 3 - Vintage Nancy

Today was....busy. I was still up at two this morning, meaning I only had about five hours of sleep between then and church. Surprisingly, I was wide awake and able to think. Later, after lunch, I helped my aunt to vacuum her entire house from top to bottom...Oof. My back was so sore after that!

Now, I'm ready to relax. After my English homework, haha.

Anyway, here's what I wore today! I thought this dress looked very vintage and Nancy Drew-ish. And I was able to have the pictures taken outside, since there was a break in the rain.

I also paired it with my blue cameo necklace.

Have a lovely day~!

NDFW - Day 2 - Modern Nancy

This is how I can see Nancy dressing today....classy, simple, and modest.(: I can see her being an Anthropologie kinda girl, with a style...kinda like my own, hehe. Anyway, here's what I came up with. My sister was amazed at how quickly I threw it together - "Why can't you do this normally?" As you may guess, despite my bulging dresser drawers, I still somehow manage to wake up each morning with absolutely "nothing" to wear. Yeah...I'm getting better at not being quite so picky.

This cardigan is new....I've been working hard on it over the past few weeks. It's modeled after one of Anthropologie's, and is made from two extra-large sweatshirts, which I trimmed to size and made ruffles with.(: I kinda love it.

I also made my headband...(:

For some reason, all of my photos turned out looking kinda goofy....I'm not sure why, haha. These are the best of many!

Now, I have a question: if you read Nancy Drew, which is your favorite book in the series? If not...who is your favorite fictional heroine?

Have a lovely day!

T-shirt Necklaces

Last Sunday I went shopping with my friend, and while we were at Claire's I saw these adorable little necklaces made with bottle caps. Then at H&M, they had necklaces made from strips of cut up t-shirts! I thought they were pretty cool on their own, but then I thought, how cute would it be to combine the two? So on Monday, I hammered holes in bottle caps and pasted pictures on the inside. Then on Tuesday, I started cutting up t-shirts, and attached the strips to a chain.
This is what I got:

Then on Wednesday I made another in blue, to match my outfit for church:

What do you think? Should I make a tutorial?(:

Have a lovely day!

Nancy Drew Fashion Week - Day 1

I had wanted to post these yesterday, but I never got around to it. Anyway, I think I mentioned this before, but this week is Nancy Drew fashion week, and since she is one of my favorite heroines, and I loved the idea of trying to dress like her, I just had to do it. With this outfit I tried to emulate a vintage Nancy. How do you think I did? I've always thought this shirt looked kind of vintage-y, especially paired with the skirt.(:

It was raining today, so I had to take my pictures inside....which I don't like because of the busy background, but once I blurred it it seemed less busy.

This is a shirt that I made for Thanksgiving from an old shirt that I had outgrown, and then paired with a sweatshirt handed down from my aunt (who also, incidentally, gave me this skirt!). I sewed it together, and added roses at the top, along with a funnel neckline. I also added on to the sleeves. I really love the result, and I made two other shirts using the same method.

And did you notice my purse?(; My parents gave it to me as a gift last Christmas.

I'll be back with today's photos tomorrow! (hopefully I'll get caught up pretty soon!)

A new headband idea...

Hello everyone,

This week has kind of been a downer for me....I got sick on Sunday night, and since then have been in bed with a bad cold....now, I'm just starting to feel better, at the very end of my spring break. But I am relieved that it happened on break instead of during a school week.(:

Anyway, I have a few posts lined up for today, including some crafts and then, it's Nancy Drew Fashion Week over at Bramblewood Fashion, so I'll be showing you my outfits for today and yesterday. I'm really excited, so let's get started.

This first headband was inspired by a knotted one that Anthropologie sells. They have the knots all across the headband, however, while mine only go half-way. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, and am excited to make more of them.

Isn't it pretty? All I did was take a thick strip of bias tape and fold it the way I wanted it, while hot gluing it. Last of all, I glued it securely to the headband. And I got this lovely piece.

What do you think?(:

Have a lovely day!
