Thankful

Crocheted sweater, shoes, skirt: Thrifted / Blouse: JC Penneys / Tights: Fred Meyer / Necklace: Claire's

Hi everyone! To everyone in the U.S., happy Thanksgiving! It's wonderful to have a holiday dedicated to giving thanks...I know that so often I am discontented with what I have, and I often forget to be thankful for the numerous blessings that God has given me. Because, really, once I stop to think about it, I have SO much to be thankful for in life, so many blessings that I can't even begin to count. To me, Thanksgiving should be every day. Not the feasting and the celebration part (I don't even like Turkey!), not the historical significance, but the spirit of thankfulness. No matter how bad your day may seem, there is always a glimmer of light--something to be thankful for.

"O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, and His mercy endureth forever." -Psalm 105:1

Have a lovely holiday, everyone!

Simple Layers

Shirt, Cardigan, Belt: Thrifted / Jeans: Fred Meyer / Boots: Amazon / Scarf: Gift

Last week was crazy--I had a take-home essay midterm for one class, and then a midterm and a quiz for my other class. I finally finished everything and turned it in last night, and it felt so good to wake up and not have that crazy essay breathing over shoulder! Anyway...that's why there wasn't anything happening over here all last week! This week, I still have three essays due, but I must admit, it still feels like nothing compared to all the writing I did last week! Three one-page essays? No problem.(;

This is what I wore last week on a study day...I love my skirts, but jeans are so easy to throw on when I have a long day of school-work ahead! Layering a simple shirt with a pretty cardigan, belt, and scarf made the outfit cute and feminine--much nicer than just throwing on sweatpants and a t-shirt...which was what I was reduced to wearing on Saturday! Luckily I didn't have to go out that day--I stayed in my little hermit cave until I had finished everything I had to do.

Oh! And here is the second-to-the-last tag in my series of tags (you can see the others here and here). This one comes from the lovely Lizzy of Pretty Modest. Thank you for tagging me, Lizzy!

1. What is your favorite movie?
This is an impossible question for me to answer! There are so many movies I love that I don't think I could ever pick one favorite. Well, since Christmas is coming up, I'll tell you my favorite Christmas movie--the Muppet Christmas Carol (followed by White Christmas and It's a Wonderful Life).

2. If you could have a super power what would you choose?
Hmm...that's a tough one! Maybe invisibility?

3. What's your favorite season?
Fall, for sure! And then winter.

4. What food could you live without?

Zucchini. *cringes* I can't stand the taste of it, and how it deceptively looks like a cucumber!

5. What's your favorite clothing brand?
I love just about everything from Modcloth! Ooh, and Shabby Apple.

6. Would you rather live where there is lots of Snow or Sun?
Snow, please!

7. Leggings or tights?
I like tights because they cover my feet, haha! But leggings are nice when it's colder, and I love them paired with a tunic/short dress and boots.(: Sooo...I really like both.

8. What is your favorite fast food place?

Del Taco! When my family was in California a couple years ago we practically lived off Del Taco, and then we discovered there's one near us! Yum.

9. What is most important to you?

My faith. That should always rank first for me.

10: If you could change anything about yourself what would it be?
The one thing that annoys me most about myself is that I stumble over my words so much, even just in a normal conversation. I don't know if others notice it so much, but it happens so often! I'd love for words to come flowing smoothly from my brain and out of my mouth instead of getting lost or mistranslated on the way! If that makes any sense, haha.

11. Do you like salt and vinegar chips?
I am not a fan. I don't care for that bitter taste! I do like salt and pepper chips, though!

Thanks again for tagging me, Lizzy!

I hope you all have a wonderful week! By the way, I'd just like to say hi to all my new followers! I was so excited to log on and see that I had topped 100. Thanks, you guys!(:

Fall Tones

Jacket: JC Penny's / Top: JC Penny's / Belt: Thrifted / Necklace: Claire's / Skirt: Thrifted / Boots: Target

This is Sunday's outfit! I went to JC Penny's on Saturday not expecting to find anything, and I happened on this jacket...it was a gorgeous color, and I've been hunting for one in this style for months now! And it was on sale...when I had it rung up, it was way less than I thought it would be! I ended up getting some really great deals...honestly, better than I would've gotten at a thrift store (I'm not sure why thrift stores--at least around my area--these days are so overpriced...seriously!).

Anyway! On with my tag series...next up is Nessima's tag. Thanks for tagging me, Nessima! She has a really cool blog, by the way...you should check it out! For this one I also had to post eleven things about myself, but since I did that in the last post, I don't think I'll do it again. Here are my answers to her questions:

1. If you lived in Middle-earth, what would you most likely be employed as (i.e. stable hand in Rohan, musician for the elves of Lothlorien, Ranger of Ithilien, a baker in Hobbiton, librarian in Minas Tirith, etc, etc, etc...)?
I rather like the idea of being a librarian in Minas Tirith (ahem...since I couldn't come up with anything else). Or anywhere, really.

2. You're sent to Mordor to destroy the Ring; you can take with you anyone (but only one!) you want, real or fictional. Who is it?
Probably the Doctor. You can always use a doctor, especially if he's brought his sonic screwdriver!

3. If Tolkien had bothered to write you into LOTR as a member of The Fellowship, how long would you have survived?
Pffftttt...probably a day. I can't go without my second breakfast. Seriously, though...I'm not sure. It would depend on whether Tolkien had given me any amazing fighting/survival skills.

4. Which of the swords in LOTR would you most like to own?
I don't think I'd want a sword so much as a bow!

5. On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you for The Hobbit?
Probably somewhere around 8.5. It'll probably be higher when I've finished reading "The Hobbit" (I'm rather ashamed that I never read it).

6. What is a particularly odd skill you possess?
I'm quite good at reading upside down. People say that's a cheater's skill, but well...I was homeschooled and didn't have much opportunity to practice reading other people's answers.(;

7. If you could be in an episode of any tv show, which one would it be?
I think I'd rather like to meet Agatha Christie with the Doctor.

8. Why is a raven like a writing desk?
This is one of life's great mysteries...one that I'm quite sure I'll never be able to unravel.

9. What's the last book you read? Was it Good? Not so good?
The last book I read was "To Die for" by Sandra Byrd. It was about Anne Boleyn from the perspective of her cousin, who was her companion at court. It was terribly interesting, though perhaps not so well-written. The story itself, however, and the history, kept me tearing through it. It was also interesting to see how Anne was a true Christian woman, and how she worked to spread the Word...she's often cast as a sort of villain, but seeing a different perspective to her life was enlightening. Highly recommend it, if not just for the history aspect.

10. What are some words that people often use to describe you with?
Quiet, reserved, imaginative, creative, studious.

11. Something(s) you just really hate? Go on. Rant.
One of the things I hate the most is when people tell me I can't do something, because they don't believe I have the ability or it seems out of character (if they're telling me something like that for a good reason, then I'll at least listen). It just frustrates me to no end, and will most likely make me even more determined to succeed, even if it's just to say, "See? I told you I could do it!" Besides--"I can do all things through Christ, who strengtheneth me."

Purple and Lace

Top: Fred Meyer / Tank top: Thrifted / Skirt: Thrifted / Tights: Claire's / Shoes: Thrifted / Ring: Vintage

Sorry for the recent lack of posting, everyone! I came down with a sudden cold on Sunday...it started with a burning sore throat, which thankfully lasted only a day and a half, and then pretty much went away today, except for a few sniffles. It was so strange, because all weekend, I'd been feeling fine! A little tired, but I think that's quite normal after the first week back to school! And what was stranger still was that my sisters and I all caught it on the same day...the very same cold. Oh well. I was happy for the opportunity to rest a day and watch old comedies and drink lots and lots of tea. There isn't much that can top that!(; I hope all of you are staying well--I wouldn't wish that dastardly cold on anyone!

Anyway! This skirt is my new favorite skirt. Can you guess why? Weeeeell, it's purple, it's warm and cozy enough for winter, AND it has pockets! I love skirts with pockets...and really, anything with big deep pockets that I can just plunge my hands into when it's cold, or just when I don't quite know what to do with them...which is often. Since it's so full, I was a bit concerned that it might be a bit unflattering with the peplum top, but I think it turned out wonderfully. It was comfortable and combined some of my favorite elements, and that's all I cared about! What do you think? Do you ever make "unorthodox" fashion combinations?(:

I hope you all are having a fantastic week!
