In the Kitchen

Last weekend my sister and I had our cousin over for a cakepop baking and decorating party. Moriah had just gotten one of those little cakepop makers for Christmas, and she was eager to test it out. So we baked up a batch of strawberry cakepops, got the chocolate all melted, and then we started to decorate. It was a mess, but it was incredible (and tasty!) fun! I can't wait to do it again...maybe next time with a devil's food cake mix and a dark chocolate shell. Mmmm! The party also offered the perfect opportunity for me to practice my indoor photography...it's something I've wanted to work on for a long time, and it used to be so frustrating! But now I'm getting a bit more used to the technique, and happy to be able to take in-focus pictures without a flash. Still nowhere near perfect, but better. These pictures were taken mostly during the clean-up time, once everyone but my sister and I were out of the kitchen. We had the music cranked up, and in between scrubbing chocolate from the tables, I snapped about a hundred photos.

Have any of you tried making cakepops before?

  1. Yes, unfortunately...my younger sister is OBSESSED with them! We just the machine a couple days ago-let me just say if she keeps this up I'm going to be like 3X the size I am...
She made these really good ones the other day-biscuit dough wrapped around a bit of sausage-yum!

  13. Those look SOOO yummy!! And it sounds like you had a lot of fun. Cousins and siblings are great for getting to do things like this with.

ACK! Empty houses are the worse! They make so many more noises then when people are in them. House sitting isn't high on my list of things I like to do. It is better if there is a dog there, sometimes.

Oh yes! I forgot the shower curtain one. That is hugely important. Probably wise just to take a frying pan whenever one has to go to the bathroom...

  15. Aye, there are few American shows I like as well. Psych is now added to that list. It is a lot of fun, and I really like the characters. Even Jules, which is saying a lot, coming from me.

I should give up my pocket knife for a frying pan...likely safer.

  16. Johnny Lee Miller is a good actor, I really want to see him in Emma because I've heard he's really good in that one - and it would be nice to see him in a movie without all his tattoos. I've also heard Aidan Quinn's name but I can't think of what he has been in. But he is also a really good actor. Him and the other detective, Bell, make the show worth watching.

I have the same concern about Joan. There doesn't seem to be anything romantic between them yet, but I have a feeling the writers are leading up to it...though it all depends where they are going with their new twist...

The scarf is horrible. I think it was meant to be a BBC copy...but it failed miserably.

Aye, it cannot compare to BBC's Sherlock in my opinion. Bennedict Cumberbach and Martin Freeman ARE Sherlock and Watson.
