Last month, my boyfriend, Josh, and I decided to hike drive up to Snoqualmie and hike the trail to Franklin Falls. We were assured that the trail was so easy anyone could do it, and that there shouldn't have been any snow. Well, there was quite a bit of snow, and worse--ice. But we decided to brave the elements and hiked for about a mile or so before we realized we weren't even on the trail--we were on a road that would have eventually led us to the freeway. On the plus side, it was a pretty walk, and we discovered some fantastic views. Afterwards, we finally found our way to the trail we wanted, and made our way through the snow and ice to the waterfall. To get closer to the waterfall, we climbed around a rock face covered in sheets of ice, and finally we made it to the point where I snapped the picture of the waterfall and decided I wouldn't risk climbing any further.
So, what was meant to be a short, easy hike turned into an all-day adventure. But the amazing scenery made it totally worth it...and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
